  • i was wondering if theres a contraindication, say a burn to the chest, 1st degree, and bilateral amputations to the legs and arms, would the juglar vein be the next option for starting fluids?

  • The only contraindications I am aware of it there is obvious trauma to the sternum, or previous scar tissue there suggesting trauma. It is mainly used when you are unable to obtain intravenous access in the arms or legs. You could do an EJ stick if this failed.
