Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
Test details:

The Mercedes E class was redesigned for the 1996 model year.

All 1997 and later E class models manufactured after January 1997 include structural changes to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. Additional structural changes were made beginning with 2000 E class models manufactured after January 2000 (note: information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door).

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. Head acceleration from the roof rail hit was low.

  • @alexkvaskov you are an idiot it´s a 40m.p.h frontal offset when only 40% of the fron end of the vehicles crash with the barrier.

  • i KNOW! who would think that the test shown is at 5 mph

  • much better than the 96-97 E-class w210, but ive still seen better Mercedes crashes than this

  • thats what i just said genius. thanks alot for repeating me

  • well the bumper tests are 5 mph genius

look who's explaining shit to me, i have an effing car. this is the standard 40mph offset test

    frigging idiot

  • whoa. you got my comment pretty quick. anyway, clearly you are the retarded one. you honestly think that was 5 mph!!! yeah, cuz 5 mph would most def cause that much frontal damage. IIHS has standardized frontal and side impact crash tests at 40 m.p.h. ANd for the last time, safety is a crucial thing to consider when buying a car. SAFETY, PERFORMANCE, and FUEL EFFICIENCY are most people's top three factors of buying a car new or used
