After the recent release of RAM I can fully understand this movie in relation to their music career. The film takes place after Human After All (figuratively and literally). After much success, they pursue a more human approach to music and make RAM. This surprises their fans (the mindless robots) and results in a negative reaction. The two sad robots leave their former selves behind and continue with their old style which in the end dies off anyway.

At least, that's how I see it :P
