Brighton Protesters Smash Vodafone Window in Western Road

After hearing all the commotion outside our windows, we sent out cameras to take a look at what was happening with the Student Protests in Brighton. It is relevant in the overall scheme of things. Vodafone owe tax as do many other multi million pound companies. We in this country had to take cuts to all important services, Vodafone is NOT a neccessity. Then we bail out Ireland so totally wiping out the cuts saving. Back to square 1. Why should should our youngsters have to suffer to get a decent education? Their education has been paid for by earlier generations of their family.

a) i didn't say it was an excuse for criminal damage, don't distort my comment.

b)the whole hoo-ha over vodafone is that the government departments completely failed in collecting the debt. vodafone not paying £6bn causes a lot more suffering than one broken window. i agree that smashing a window will not help this cause - but occupying and raising awareness about vodafones tax avoidance will.

@fin2626 that's a ridiculous excuse for criminal damage. There are whole government departments dedicated to chasing unpaid taxes... by causing criminal damage we all suffer. The retail prices can go up to cover the costs of the damage as do all of our insurance premiums.

It makes no sense at all to force others to spend money whilst campaigning to be given money! This sort of action is exactly why lots of people do not support the protest whilst we might in principal agree with the ideal.
