Surreal silent film from cinema's infancy. A one-armed beggar receives a new limb from a strange store that specializes in human appendages. The new arm has a mind of its own, though, and brings the man nothing but trouble. Produced by the Vitagraph Company, this rare short boasts astounding trick photography and FX for its age.

    Wow! Epic!

    This is the first movie by "Thing", who, of course, became famous later for his role in the Adams Family TV series. Very rare footage...don't think I've ever seen him above the wrist before.

    ok, i already knew that (but thanks anyway), that's why i described the song on my dvd (avantgarde collection, vol. 5) and i think it matches pretty well; but less common is a silent movie with no score at all. it might not be the original thing but there IS some kind of sound to set the mood, doesn't matter if you added it yourself.

    (great, now, that's an idea, finding a new song fot this charming short film).
