@TaroGabunia That is your welcomed opinion, yet for me,,,, Steve M. broke Blackmore's sound barriers. That being my opinion, I can't think of anyone who is as talented as Steve is and yet having the ability to complement the Purple without self inflated ego. Is it possible that you would agree with me?

oh well, as I thought , Gillan can,t scream em like the old days but band sounds pretty decent !

@TaroGabunia shure, but this has to be.The songs is still a legend with this solo.
there are other songs with the gap purple give for Steve and he used it - impressed.

This solo was good but not even close to that of Blackmore

fairlanejay I partially agree with you and think that it may come from the fact that he is playing Richie's repertoire to a large extent and thus even in his efforts to find his own marks he is defining himself by the extent to which he can create a new image and sonic signature but because he is reacting to or against a stadard he inevitably is defined by it.

Steve is obviously a very good guitarist, but something I've noticed his playing is almost antiseptic, perfect in execution, but lacks style, im not sure whats missing but it almost sounds like hes a session player come out of the studio onto the stage.
