Lake Placid - Cairns Australia

Lake Placid is a recreation park located at the base of the Barron Gorge just 20 mins drive North/west of the Cairns CBD. Lake Placid is a large natural lake formed by the Barron River.

There is a recreation area here with a cafe and bar as well as canoes and other water sports equipment for hire. Being so close to Cairns, Lake Placid is a favourite spot for local families on the weekends as well as kayaking enthusiasts.

Access to the lake is free and there is BBQ facilities available. Lake Placid is the final destination for the Barron River Rafting which run daily starting at the hydro electric power station.

The background music was performed at Lake Placid by a local Cairns musician on the day the video was shot.

I have lived in Cairns for 38 years and my friends and family have all visited Lake Placid many times over. It's a great place to visit and there has never been any incidents with crocs. The Lake is used daily by many people. White water rafting day trips finish at Lake Placid.

Lake Placid is a good place but for the past six months its bean terrible, you cant rent those boats and conoes any more.And trust me i ride to lake placid every day.
