Choosing an In-The-Waistband (IWB) holster can be a daunting task. When you carry a firearm all day, every day, you want to make sure it's going to be comfortable.

Here are a few tips on what to look for in a holster to insure it will be comfortable.

  • no railing on your stairs...whats up with that? and a baby to boot

  • @nyjets8883 And yet our child has made it to two years of age. However, our house in undergoing some remodeling and railing is getting installed.

  • @bank4fun I have three daughters all college age. I have bought all three of them a gun to carry while at college. Less than a month ago one of my daughter's friends were attacked while jogging. She wasn't carrying. She is still suffering from that attack. They just caught the guy about a week ago. Women have the right to have a life. They should not be forced by anyone to STAY HOME.

  • Absolutely a 5star vid. Your humor, natural on-camera presence and ease of understanding make this a video EVERY woman should watch. LOVED that you used the 1911 to make your point. And yes, carrying around the house makes immense sense to a thinker. Kudos to the IWB explanations and comparisons. Keep up the GREAT work!!!

  • @gadsden1911 Agreed: What use is there of owning a weapon that is inaccesible? Carry while doing chores and you won't have to tell the bad guy, "Please, sir, stand still for just a minute while I go get my gun to protect my property/life?" Just have it available and ready to do what needs done. A good gun safe is a wonderful place to STORE a gun, but keeping said weapon accessible is another story. "A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are made for."

  • Dropping the slide on an empty 1911 is a horrible thing to do. BUT it's your gun, so you do what you wish with it. Just be aware that it's not a good practice.

  • ALWAYS check your setup before you leave the house with it. That neat clip holster isn't worth a damn if it comes out with the gun when you draw for defense. This isn't for females, it's for everyone! I have found that a belt over my favorite clip holster holds the holster in my waistband, your results may vary. But whatever you do, DO NOT just clip a gun to your waistband and head out. Very bad idea!

  • Some things to consider:

A woman is likely to be grabbed from behind by an attacker. If you carry your gun past 3:00 on your belt (or waist, sans belt), you may not be able to get that firearm when the bad guy is holding you. He may also feel it and get it before you can. Appendix carry for women is a great option because it's your best bet to get access to that gun if grabbed from behind.
