This is a cover of a Nina Simone song, which was also recorded and made famous by the Animals in the mid 60s. In the video the song is covered by Dave Snowdon (vocals/guitar/bass) and Roger Smith (sax/keys), originally from the 60s Sunderland band - the Conrads. Dave and Roger (who no longer live in the north east) met up recently after losing contact over 40 years ago. Pete Watson, the Conrads bass player still lives near Sunderland. Sadly, Alan Wharton (vocals) and Graham Guthrie (drums) passed away in the noughties. This video is dedicated to their memory.

  • Thank you very much for your encouraging comment!

  • Thank you, this is my most favorite version of the song, more than of Nina herself

  • Come on and shine your light on me :-)

  • Nice one Dave. I recall singing this with you on many occasions during our time as 'Fragile'. You've not changed much ;-)

  • Gone but never ever forgotten ......Peace and love Uncle Al.

  • Very nice Dave!

I like the jaunty mike position too.

Clean uncluttered music, lots of 'air', is what really works well, easy to listen to.

  • Fantastic tribute Dave. Lovely vocals and superb sax solo. I could really get a sense of the emotion and, i have to say, when the picture of the band came up at the end, i got goosebumps.

  • Good work my friend

  • Really good Dave
