I learned cursive in the first grade. There's not a whole lot of other stuff going on in that grade, so I don't really see how they claim to not have the time to teach cursive.

Cursive is meant to be quicker I was taught it but I use to hate it when I would write a story and my cousins couldn't read cursive

Cursive is need. People tend to push it off like it nothing. But i have seen with my self and friend who have learning disabilities that involve reading and writing that cursive makes us slow down. it makes us slow down so we can better translate our thoughts, we can make neater writing that people can understand , and it also help with hand eye coordination that many of us lack.

WAIT!!!! If the future children don't learn cursive, they won't have a signiture and if they don't have a signiture then how shall they write checks and other such fancy things and plus IT'S COOL. It's beautiful and fluent and what goes better with the "romantic langues" than a lovely written cursive paper in French. All I'm saying if the teachers won't teach my kids cursive, I will.

I live in Florida, and after 4th grade(2006) i never used cursive again, and now we do a lot of things on computers.

Very few things make me happier than hand writing. I love cursive. I am always trying to make my letters prettier, and I think it is sad not to teach it anymore.

i would say to my american neighbors, your government is making you into a huge group of under educated people.
