Steve McAllister 5 Points Park Sarasota, FL on Homelessness

Steve McAllister of Sarasota, author and Renaissance man has chosen the life of homelessness to experience the drama unfolding in Sarasota, "the meanest city in America" toward the homeless. Steve is speaking and playing guitar at 5 Points Park in downtown Sarasota across from the Opera House. Homelessness is an issue he will not let Sarasota rest its Laurels on. Sarasota city government has recently installed hundreds of parking meters spending thousands in a time of economic crunch, to collect yet another tax from its citizens while pulling all the benches out of 5 Points Park to discourage the homeless from gathering there. Meanwhile the park has become moot in that neither the city's elderly, the overburdened shopper, not the visitor to Sarasota may sit to enjoy the beauty of this special spot in the former downtown gathering place.
