Doug Weight hit on Sutter

The question I have: Was the hit NECESSARY? Not was it clean or legal, but was it necessary? Could Sutter have been taken out of the play another way? The NHL should consider that.

man I think you dont understand basics od hockey-it is tough sport and this how it's played. hit was clean and that's the way how defensman should play-cleanly but hardly to the body.

sutter moved his head lower and that's why Weight hit his head. there was nothing what weight could do about it in that speed. watch it carefully again..

mincarcbj55 is a jackass. Weight led with his shoulder, anyone who has PLAYED hockey knows that is the way to hit. Sutter was stretched out and touched the puck and had his head down. He got what he deserved when leaving himself open like that. How is that hit dirty?

Doug weight and sutter both were going full speed...theres nothing either of them could have done at that point.. doug weight didnt mean to hit him that high, but he did...and sutter had his head down and he paid a price...thats how hockey goes sometimes

Sutter compromised his position by having his head down and ended up geting hurt becuase he extended to reach the puck infornt of an oncoming deffencemen.

Sutter was leaning towards the guy with his head out in front of him. Kinda hard not to hit him in the head

That was a great clean hit, sutter shouldn't have put his head down. biggest mistake in hockey.

Considering the fact that Sutter was bent forward, I wouldn't exactly call it a high hit. I'm sure Weight saw the opportunity for a big hit and decided to not bother with the puck and capitalize on the hit. It’s unfortunate that Sutter took a heavy hit like that, as it is for any player who faces heavy hits, but those of us who play hockey have heard our coaches say time and time again, “Keep your head up”.

@priggeauc if you start questioning whther this was necessary you are starting to question the fundamentals of hockey! and followed this to the very end we could say why are we even playing hockey?!its like question. why are hits in american footbal-lets stop forward by hugging him not hitting him...then someone could knock on his head and look at you like at some mentally challenged person...
