While fishing with my Dad in Nokomis Florida we were attacked by Pelicans tring to steal our bait and catch.

We catch all kinds of fish in this area including snook, snapper, grouper, blue fish, king mackerel, tarpon, shark and flounder.

We often see dolphin out in the channel. We have also seen sharks chasing bait fish.

  • my dad took me when i was 18 months and i have loved it sence then

  • whoah. thats up by nokomis bridge. i used to fish there everyday until i moved to tennessee. right on the otherside is a restaurant called pelican alley. best restaurant in the world!

  • i cant wait to move to noko from south jersey=[

  • I hate it when birds do not back off. We get harassed by Herons, haha. We turn away for a minute and soon the fish we caught are gone. My brother caught a smaller catfish and an eagle flew down and grabbed it while it was on the hook.

  • Way to play those fish perfectly... good job! Nice advice dad- way to inspire them to learn the right way.

  • Research Pelicans. Not mean. Dying from strangulation (fishing line) and starvation. You can't let them hang out, be friendly, then expect them to leave you alone. If you hook one, please cut the line short if you can't remove the hook. Really shouldn't touch sea creatures you don't intend to keep or eat. They may not hurt you, but you can devistate them, just by touching them.

  • I have a Pelican story, while working in the tampa area(Working night shift installing ethernet networks in circuit cities)I would fish gandy bridge before sunrise;was plugging for snook;caught a few;had a backlash, pelican attack my lure;(Two trebles hooks to boot)finally landed him(after all the sqauking)released unharmed.

  • Maxshannon, PLEEEEEEaAaAsSsEE tell me what bait u used, and where it was( keys,...).

I'm in florida next week and i always wanted to catch a jack!!!

    Thanks, 5/5.

    Rogier.
