Unofficial video of Gary Numan's M.E. Supposedly it's about the last intelligent machine on earth, left alone, after every human has died. Nevertheless, alienation and isolation is universal theme. The song and subject are extremely futuristic and, despite singing atonally, he's able to express a lot of emotion. Footage is of New York's Flushing Meadows Park. Basement Jaxx sampled this for "Where's your head at?" 22 years after it was produced.

"And m.e. I eat dust
We're all so run down
I'd call it my death
But I'll only fade away
And I hate to fade alone
Now there's only m.e.

We were so sure
We were so wrong
And now it's over
But there's no one left to see
And there's no one left to die
There's only m.e.

Why shoud I care
Why should I try
Oh no, oh no
I turned off the pain
Like I turned off you all
Now there's only m.e."

    Hattie Cursey brought me here.

  • whenever this song starts i wanna start yelling WHERES YOUR HEAD AAAAT. thats just my inner child trying to break out. my sophisticated outer child prefers Gary Numan's original though. :o

  • @milehighlander He most likely also fueled that huge amount of good House music in the 90s. And it was Synthpop he invented right?

  • I heard of this after learning it was used in "Where's Your Head At" and was pushed to look it up when I heard the album was included in "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die". Great piece. Very eccentric though. This guy probably fueled the 90s House movement
