No, the firepit is not mine - I don't make campfires!

This video is not meant to sell the REI tent - just a bit of a demo on a single-person tent and how it operates. Although not very roomy it's a relatively solid tent that does a good job of keeping the rain out. However, the wind easily makes its way in...

This video was recorded near South Colony Lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains of Colorado. The elevation is about 11,600 feet (3,535 metres)

  • wish they made a plus version of this. oh well.

  • @gaozhi2007

What would a "plus" version be?

  • @zeekzilch they have plus versions of both the quarter dome T2 and T3. They add 10 inches in length and about 4 inches to the side, all for an extra 6 ounces of weight (in the T2 plus). Personally, I don't understand why anyone would even buy the normal versions. Right now they are both on sale and for $20 more you can get the plus version. It's a no brainer. Don't understand why they can't do this for the T1.

  • @gaozhi2007

That's good information - thank you for explaining! I'll certainly watch for the "plus" (if it becomes available) as it makes more sense...

  • What is the weight of the quarter dome?

  • @3318ryan

The T1 single person I'm using here, in this video, is listed at 2 pounds 12 ounces (1.4 kilograms)

  • @gaozhi2007 I agree. I really like this tent, but at 6'1', think it is a little short for me. I guess I'll just have to stick to my 2 person tent, or maybe the MSR Hubba since that is 5 inches longer but it is much expensive than the REI

  • here you can find a review about this tent, i borrowed from a friend and i like it

  • @andrewparramore

Tyvek sounds like a great idea - thanks!

  • Tyvek is the brand name for a waterproof lightweight plastic that you can make a cheap 'footprint' out of. Try Home Depot. Lay out your tent, trace the bottom, cut the Tyvek to fit.
