I think the aveoli take the CO2 exchanged at the body tissues for oxygen is taken to the lungs and diffused into the aveoli, then when we exhale the CO2 is removed from the aveoli and travels upward an out of our mouth during exhilation. It's like an old girlfriend that cheated or your tired of (your the cell that wants a new one) you break up, dump her into the single scene she's the CO2, the O2 is the new girl of your dreams that you need.
