hey dave with the new yafaray you can set meshes to be arealights, so you wont get circle specular lights on the plane =)

That's cool, man, but I really want to avoid YafaRAY in test renders.

Thing is I used an area light here but I really set it with little resolution.

Well I got it to work, you have to read the documentation first.

OK, so here's the thing:

Install Python (not the actual latest version, something like 2.4x). Install YafaRAY and don't do what it says. Get a folder where you'll mush up all the files it installs. Get the QT library, do the same. When done, just move the files to your .blender\scripts folder and it should be OK.

Sadly enough, the render process isn't the same as with YafRAY, you have to tweak a bit more and it's not F12.
