After GPS is located it will navigate you to the destination you enterd in Google Maps

I have a unlocked HD2 from outside the USA, If I'm going to Miami with vacation what do I need? which software? do i have to pay or download something(software, map) or the phone has a free gps software already installed? (I have no plan when going to miami, no internet on the phone..nothing only roaming)

@kevv101 Compass uses google maps.. That will cost you a data plan.... Getting a offline navigator like TomTom is needed. Goodluck and Enjoy Miami!

giving a waste compass to play...HTC should have integrated it into the maps too like apple did.who will play with the compass all day to see where is north or south???

does the map from the google maps app rotate with the digital compass? just like the maps app on the iphone?

But in WM it doesn't, because not all WM phones support compass.

This really wont help you anymore. T-Mobile took this feature off of the phone. I dont know why but hopefully they bring it back

Integrate to which map? as I know the best GPS application (professional one) for outdoor activity is GPS Tuner, they also have compass inside the program but not digital one, I am sure they have power to get SDK Package from HTC to integrate digital compass into their latest release. By the way you are not only one who spends weekends at home and doesnt need to know where the south or north is.

Actually it is not compass base of GPS signal, it is digital one, it doesnt matter you have GPS signal or inside building or where ever you are, it works base on magnetic field, so you can rely on, you can put your old compass into the bin.

some of our friends love to hike every weekend, when u in the woods or ridge, compass is far useful then maps, cos trails not always on map. and as gprs signal is weak in outback, the location is not accurate. so pls dont rely on hi tech too much. sometime low tech wins in the war.

what's the big deal. i mean cool but every new smartphone has this and the HD2's isn't remarkable.
