I *think* crushing is far better than slicing.. You need to break as many cell walls as you can to produce the maximum allicin.. (It's formed a reaction between two compounds separated by the cell wall. a sort of natural binary weapon.. )

You "can" chew it. Chewing/crushing releases all the antibiotic antimicrobial properties of the garlic. Thing is your mouth will be on Fire burning before you swallow it, so chase it down with water. I'm trying this now for a flu cure. I have used Garlic for years for instant toothache cure. I was popping Vicodins like candy with no relief. Cut a small piece off of a clove and chew it then let it sit on the hurt tooth. Instant tooth pain cure better than any Rx. It burns for 10 min but worth it

Update: woke up this morning with much less coughing and cold, it definitely works! I'm taking another dose this morning....many thanks!!!!!!!!

@redballyou TRY vitamin D3 for cancer protection and,allergies and viruses.I take 2000 units a day and I have never been healthier in 49 years !!!!

the problem with having the garlic right before a meal is that it will sit in your stomach longer doing two things- the volatile oils that have the healing powers will be dissipated and the garlic will sit in your stomach longer causing you to start tasting it again... and again and again if you know what I mean.

I have never heard of cinnamon for a cold- though it is very warming. Ginger is great for a cold- but whether it is the cold or flu, both need an immune boost,

Digestion will break down the garlic to get the good volatile oils out. If it is chewed, the oils are released in the mouth and will be tasted forever!
