I poured a fresh batch of aerated wort onto a really big yeast cake from another brew. This is a time-lapse of the first two hours.

  • What is the size of the second jug?

  • That't a 1 gallon jug.

  • Why is there a pipe from the big bottle to the smaller bottle? What is the liquid in the smaller bottle?

  • Sanitizing solution.

  • ditto lemichae

  • that's just a blow off tube... when the yeast eats the sugar in the wort it produces gas and the gas goes in the tube and comes out in the liquid in the smaller bottle... like an air lock. the water or sanitizing liquid makes it possible for the gas to escape but not let air into the the tube.

  • Wow, that's nice kreuzen after so little lag! Very cool!

  • That was cool thank!!

  • Hooray blow-off tubes!

  • Cool man, you should put "timelapse" in as a tag.
