This is a simple music tutorial, done in the key of C, to show the basic riffs and chord progression (C, F & G or 1, 2, 5) of the simple, but terrific tune 409, written by Brian Wilson. It uses the basic pentatonic or blues scale. The little solo or break is simple and catchy and also it is somewhat obliterated by a roaring car engine sound effect. The melody is simple and catchy. The vocal harmonies I can't comment on, because I haven't studied them, but essentially, Wilson arranged that so the different Beach Boys would bolster or reiterate what are called "chordal tones" or notes which are part of the given chord used at that moment in the song.
