every state has there own laws, in NY you have to be in the mortuary program in order to be allowed to witness an embalming. if you are just an employee of the funeral home (ie, attendants can not watch the process. i find it funny tho that you can watch an autopsy on here though

Colorado is the only state in this country that DOES NOT require a embalmers license

it is illegal but you can do the apprenticeship program and become a funeral director and embalmer without going to school in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. so you'll see and learn everything. but if you want to you can still go to school while you do the program.

here in Tennessee it's illegal to bring a body across states lines coming or going if it's not embalmed.
