My student Cathy Lee programmed the BX-24 microcontroller to output music to a Radio Shack audio amplifier. Cathy determined the frequencies of each note and taught the BX-24 how to play the pattern of notes and pauses. Here, it plays the scales, "Row, row, row your boat", and Hayden's Surprise Symphony.

The BX-24 is manufactured by NetMedia and is programmed using their BasicX language. I am using Robodyssey Systems' RAMB II motherboard to interface with the BX-24. I am the author of the world's only BasicX textbook; if you are interested in learning how to program your own robot (or keyboard), see my website at www.basicxandrobotics.com.
