hi if your still using the coil buld for uvb you need to get rid of it. the buld can cause him to go blind. you need to get a mercury vapor bulb. do reasearch of the coil bulbs and you will see.

dont use any soil that has potting ingredient sin it. it can kill the tortosie. the best substrate to use is cypress mulch, very cheep, looks bad ass, and sulcata's LOVE TO BURROW in the mulch.

of course. even if a reptile that doesnt need uvb i still use it. a little sun light vitamins never hurt anyone. :)
