My grandfather & grand-uncle served under Rommel. Both were Panzer commanders in the 7th Panzer Division after Rommel took command in France. Both were decorated by Rommel on May 28, 1940 for the encirclement of the French 1st Army, battle of Lille. They also commanded in Africa. After Africa they campaigned during the 6th Army's encirclement and counter-attack. Both said Rommel made a personal request no einsatzgruppen (death sqauds) operate behind his lines.

@dave19941000 What? Rommel was not involved in any plot to kill Hitler. Yes Rommel was asked and knew about the plot. However Rommel was not involved, He wanted Hitler alive, Otherwise he would be just be replaced by anouther facists. The reason Hitler wanted Rommel killed, Was because Rommel knew about the plot and said nothing. The only part Rommel played in the attempt on Hitler, Was keeping his mouth shut.

@martynrobin121 He wanted to keep him alive? Then why did he take part in a failed assassination attempt?I do not think putting a bomb in his bunker office while he is in it will keep Hitler alive.

@dave19941000 Hitler was Austrian anyway, Rommel was innocent but not loyal to the Austrian dictator, That is a crime and just like so many millions he was killed. The funny thing is that Rommel wanted to keep Hitler alive.

@martynrobin121 Rommel was not betrayed by his country, his leader betrayed his country, of which Rommel was a true patriot.

Has anyone shown the lyrics? Here is my attempt at the first verse. (This is taken from hearing the sound, so all suggested improvements are welcome!):
Wir sind das deutsche Afrika Korps
des Fuehrers verwegene Truppen!
Wir stuermen wie die Teufel hervor
versalzen den Tommies die Suppe!

the greatest general who had limited resorces....truely a legend
I am a first generation American and am very proud of my country. However, putting aside the Nationalist Socialist German Workers Party (Nationale Sozialistiche Deutch Abeiterpartei) Erwin Rommel's "The Tank in Attack" is still compulsory reading at the United States War College, Advanced Armored Warfare School at Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Knox Kentucky and is recognized as the handbook for tank commanders worldwide. I admired his successes against better equipted larger forces.
