These are the first few snapshots of my new weekly gig with Felix Rast - bass & Hannes Würgler - drums at the Westside Music Café, Limmatstrasse 109 (across the street from Xtra) in Zurich. Every Thursday we play and have fun there with friends and special guests. No cover - free!

Everything was set for yesterdays premiere, but then in the morning before the gig I got a message from Hannes, that his left eye looked like Mike Tyson punched him. Some ophthalmitis (eye infection) left him with a sore left eye.
First he thought that he can make it to the gig at 9pm but after the doctor checked out his eye he had to go directly to the eye clinic.
That was like a half hour before the gig. So we called Felix's brother Kaspar Rast who is one hell of a drummer, too (you can hear him every Monday with Nik Bärtsch's RONIN - http://www.montags.com/ - just a block east of where we play) if he'd 'fancy' a funky night with his brother and me at the Westside.
And even though his second son Eddie was born just six days ago (Congratulations to him and his wife) he came down to the club with his gear, where I started already playing together with Felix songs like 'Just The Two of Us' ;-P
There wasn't a huge crowd in the club but we played songs like 'The Way' - Fastball and other repertoire classics and by the time Kaspar arrived the pace changed quite a bit. I just say one word - ASSKICKER!
In Switzerland the Keiser Twins are known as one of the best 'rhythm brothers'. But last night Felix & Kaspar Rast proved that they are the ultimate groove brothers!

I hope that Hannes is getting well soon, so he can join the party at Westside.

I thank Felix & Kaspar Rast very much for saving the night. I thank Kurt for taking the pics. I also thank Claudio for the courage to do this with us and of course I thank the first fans who showed up at the Westside to have a pre-weekend party.

I got a chuckle hearing the barking dogs. I like the old school funky sound. It reminds me very much of Stevie Ray Vaughn and a bit of Bachman Turner Overdrive. In my town, Palm Springs, CA, there's a bar called Village Pub that plays similar. And the howl at the end of the song ...
