Fun with Two overdrives at once. Almost obscene.

  • Which one has lesser compression and which has more gain ? I also heard that both pedals run at 18volts. If you have tried 18V on both, which do you feel is more dynamically responsive, fatter and more amp like ? Sorry too many questions...Cheers !!!

  • The OCD wins for Gain...it is aggresive. The Barber...I think...is a 9v recommended...it may be capable of 18...but it's home is 9. Even at 9v, the Barber is more touch sensitive, but it's more of an OD, it is more subtle than the OCD. The OCD just plain kicks ass at 18v. It's dynamic responce is all about character of the drive...which is English tubeness...it is less transparent. OCD for amplike drive DD for pushing an amp or another pedal.

  • Wich one of these you can get the mid hump character of the TS9? Thanks!

  • It's a good question...but Barber seems to be avoiding the TS9 flavor. I find both pedals push the midrange in a broader range than the TS9.( 'more' and 'fatter' in overdrive mode) Both have internal controls to tweak the highs and distortion levels. I view the DD as the distortion/overdrive and the LTD as the more 'pure' or transparent overdrive. So..if SRV is your goal, LTD. If Satch...Direct Drive.

  • The OCD is more amp-like to me than a TS9. I find it has more highs and hi mid The Barber...so if that's your recipe...this is great for that. The Barber Direct Drive and LTD are, for me, in a seperate catagory than the TS9.

  • wich fender amplifier are you using ??? great demo man ... max

  • Not a Fender. It's a Kustom Defender tube amp.

  • I actually have both... lol but my friend is using the direct in studio right now so he's all bein jerkish haha :)

My OCD is set up set up like....

    Volume: 3 o'clock

    Tone: 1 o'clock ish

    Drive: 4 o'clock :)

Yes that's a ton of drive but I likey :) It use it in conjunction with a Danelectro CTO-2 transparent overdrive :) not the timmy version but still... it sounds sexy :)

  • What an OD pedal stack!! I LIKEY!!! Also dig the "Billy GibbonsTerritory ' as well..pinch harmonics all day!!!

I have to say, first time I was toying with my OCD about a year ago, I felt like Joe Walsh...played "Funk 49" for about two hours hahah Superb Video!

  • im gay

  • Gottta tell ya.. In combination, that tubey crystalline chime in the highest harmonics is right there. Love it to pieces. That is Big Audio Dynamite to my ears. For another 2 cents into the mix, I want to put it out there that after demoing nearly 300 pedals looking for a great tube sound I have landed squarely on MI Audio's Tube Zone. I highly recommend y'all give it a listen. Those guys did their homework and engineered a real classic. Would be cool to experiment with it and the Barber.

  • Great demo!! Just the D.D.demo section is probably the best I've seen.

  • So I'm looking for another overdrive to boost my amp (Mesa Triple Rectifier 2 channel which is boosted with the Maxon OD-808). It's on the 2nd channel, 1st MODE (Not modern, but the vintage) and I'm looking for a nice crunch but with the drive turned up a more "modern" sounding tone. Which one suits this better? The OCD, Direct Drive, or the LTD? Also want some versatility. Seymour Duncan pickups if you wanted to know.

  • i got those two!!!! the magic when played together is really obscene!!!!!

  • Thanks so much for your response..Cheers man !!!
