Pedal Tones 4 Feb 16 2010 Roger E. Anderson Tuba

I'm trying to get the lowest possible pedal tone on my tuba strong. I work down to it with this exercise. Today is the first day since I've been working on these that those lowest notes are really starting to appear. They're not good or strong yet, but you can tell they are on the way.

with and he says CCC is impossable....................­.....

@tubamanb It might be possible if I pulled every slide almost all the way out and then really lipped it down. Then I'd have to do it every day for some time. But I think it is possible with 5 valves down and a bunch of slide pulls.

is there any exersizes you would recommend for a grade 5 tuba player. i need to get more airy cause im attempting to play the flight of the bumblebee and carnival of venice.

@yourmum9521 Well, Flight of the Bumble Bee is essentially chromatic scale and triplets. When I spent time on that piece I also spent a lot of time with a metronome and the Herbert Clarke trumpet books. Carnival of Venice, again another trumpet book, the Arban trumpet method is what I used to learn Carnival of Venice. There are versions of it out there for tuba and trombone. But whichever version you use, have a trumpet copy as well.
