No work done..still a Torquay eyesore

They do make any money as care homes and hotels and so some owners are now burning them down in order to bulldoze them and rebuild them as apartments. These old building do not quyalify to modern safety regulations so rebuilding is what the owner probarbly want

Funny thing that going up in flames at that time of the morning... When everyone is trying to get to work via the main roads because the back road were not gritted.
So they closed the main sea front way, and made us locals use those untreated back roads...
insurance job for real.
i used to drink in mojos what will happen to the remaining buildings

@stufromdevon I'm not sure, but it still has a for sale sign up and they've demolished the worst damaged end of the building and are in the process of clearing the rubble away. I also notice that the taxi firm who had a banner on the railing advertising their phone number have managed to keep it there, even though the building has been demolished around it! What with everyone taking a peek at the damaged building and all of the attention (youtube videos) that advert must be worth a fortune!

@wheeler141054 I didn't want to be the first to say that, but I can confirm that 'insurance job' seemed to be the word on most peoples' lips down on the beach this morning. Cynics, eh? ;-)
Yes it is a lovely building, a landmark for many years. Let's hope it can be 'scrubbed up'.

@torbaywatch Was the sunrise photo in sequence? Because of that shot I got the impression that it took the Fire Brigade 2days to put the fire out.

@crikeyband Hi crikeyband, you don't half look familiar ;-)
Yes they are all in chronological order excepted the third and second last, (snowy Torquay shots) which were taken about 10 shots earlier than their position in the video.
What I perhaps should have mentioned is that the majority were taken on a 'night-time' setting which disables the flash and leaves the shutter open for longer. This can give the impression that the sky is lighter than it appears to the eye.
