Ironically, Thomas More was the Catholic equivalent of Martin Luther, because they were both very passionate about their different religious views, while Erasmus looks like more Philip Melanchton, because they were both more moderate and open to dialogue with Protestants and Catholics.

Martin Luther was the grateist ravtloenrey that evere lived he was a grate man

I think that what is really ironic about them is the fact that Luther was the rebel and he was more likely to die for his beliefs but in the end it´s Sir Thomas who end up dying for his.

They are so alike and yet they pratically hated each other...let´s hope then after death they managed to have a nice little chat. ;);)

I would not recommend wikipedia. Anyone can edit it.

The reformation would have never happened if the clergy had been so fucking greedy, arrogant, selfish and down right pompous, and more catholics and clergy like thomas moore and st john fisher...I cant blame the people of that time for hating them. I am a papist, and Indulgences that were being sold off for money is down right evil..they should be given through prayer, fasting, daily mass and devotions to Our Lord, not through money off the poor. Shame on the clergy in those days!!! SHAME!!!

Well, I don't care much for Martin Luthor, an outspoken anti-semite and anti-femmenist whose own works were used to justify the holocaust, but I can't condone Thomas Mores burning of Protestants either. *Sighs* No wonder I'm not into organized religion.

Actually, Thomas More was not responsible for burning Protestants. That is a myth. He did arrest heretics, but then they went before the papal court and he had nothing to do with their sentencing. Luther's anti-Jewish sentiments, however, were irresponsible, but not surprising considering that most of society in the 1500's were anti-semitic.

Really? I read on Wikapedia that "As Lord Chancellor, More had six Lutherans burned at the stake and imprisoned as many as forty others". Did that not really happen?. *Scratches head*

Wikapedia is not a good source of accurate information. It relies on the submissions of the general public to add content to its archives. =P
