CBGBs was ok but boy was it in a lousy part of town, the Bowery uggh. Hated going down there sometimes.

is this country blues and/or blue grass. Actually, this is one of the best versions of this song. Later on you can hear that more main stream sound coming from your grocery or department store speakers.

Imagine. Disco was the only thing on radio. KC and the Sunshine Band. Donna Summer. And this geeky guy from NY was about to make music change forever, along with Punks from England, Blondie, Ramones. What a time to see and be a part of.

I just started at NYU when they were doing this. Little by little the cool kids from Weinstein ended up hanging out all the time at CBGBs. I went a few times but I wasn't one of them. I wore a plaid shirt. The New Yorker description of CBGBs from those days mentioned how you'd see a wholesome plaid shirt(me) among all the black leather and spikes. Hookers and junkies and other people you might not trust to watch your valuables. I don't know what the Talking Heads were doing there either.
