how good was gp? well gp would average 20 and 8 and 4 year in and year out. he could gaurd every pg and sg in the game

and almost none of the pg could gaurd him cuz he was 6'4 with long arms.

dude was a nightmare for every opponent.

Good enough to defensively contain MJ, something only a handful of players could do.

Good enough to average 20/8/4 on a yearly basis.

Good enough to average 24/9/6 at 30 years old.

@takeit2thecourtmang You right he should lowkey be a hall of famer he had all star games that's what I'm saying why all these teams picked up later in his career he still had alot left he could control the game

@FuturePBABowler good enough to guard MJ MY BUTT! how come he couldn't contain him in 1996 playoffs? ? and plus he didn't show up in the finals cuz Pip WAS stopping his every move and was posting him up and scoring at will so was MJ!

@kobyyeth123 ya but that trade happend simply cause George Karl wanted Payton back, also Seattle dealt him because of his contract situation and ya he was getting old. ya Kemp was on his way to greatness when he let his life get wrecked. but ya im just saying i dont think Rose would wax the floor with GP guarding him, i think with them both in there primes it be a great match-up. I still like CP3 out of todays point guards

@kobyyeth123 5 guys traded for Ray Allen So I suppose Ray Allen Was that much greater than Payton. Oh maybe cause hes old well look at Nash and Kid.

@cburns1689 Goege karl was asked who is more talented player between Shawn kemp and Gary Payton. his own teammate. He said Shawn Kemp. Also Gary Payton got traded for Ray Allen. I really don't think Rose would get traded for anyone in the league Maybe kevin Durant who is The best SF in the game.

GP from 1994-2002 was the best PG in the NBA, he put up 20-24 ppg, 5-8 rpg, 7-9 apg and 2-3 spg. So i would say GP just didnt have the talent around him from around 1999-2002. From 1993-1998 he led Seattle to 3 60 plus win seasons. He's one of the top 10 point guards of all time and in the top 3 defensive point guards of all time- so i think he is a threat like that. I would say the one guy that would take GP to school out of modern day PG's would be CP3- he is the most complete point guard

@cburns1689 Curtain aspects of his game is like being A PG. In A playoff game it would prolly be the same results 22 A game. but not just cause of Gary is on him. the whole team is pretty much focused on him same way how it was with jordan. Like how Wade and James both took turns Guarding him Rose. The thing is you cant say the same for Gary payton. He isnt A threat like that.
