@chadball1973, Yep, things like squatting and dead lifts are something bodybuilders, power lifters, and other athletes tend to make sure to include in their workout. Just one name for example: Keith Wassung.
@chadball1973 So before you just take the next big guys advice, look at the other side of the coin. Everyone, mostly people who have used substances, will tell you that you have to do squats to get jacked. Why? There's no science to back it up. Might a powerful squatter be huge for various reasons? Yes but mostly because he works HARD not because the squats gave him some huge anabolic boost.
@chadball1973 Listen, I'm all up for a positive discussion but you refuse to see the other, science based side of the story. Facts: A) You can have flawless bench form and it can still harm your shoulders. That can be said for anything but a barbell and the fixed position does do damage. B) Back squats:great for lower body power but way too much spinal compression. Look up McGill's work.
@jimmysmithtraining I really don't want to become a troll here, I just don't get how somebody who is making a name for himself via PT can suggest that squats are more harmful than helpful. The fact that you don't advise flat bench because you feel it wrecks the shoulder girdle suggests (to me at least) that your form is off. You called Dave Tate a mentor. You should know better.
Take this as constructive criticism. Before you question my knowledge, improve your own.
@jimmysmithtraining I have no interest in the science of training? Nice. If I had no interest, I wouldn't be confident enough to make a point in the first place. By your logic, growth hormone would be secreted and then just hang around a specific area? From what I understand, you've researched this (as I have) and you know that GH, free and total test, cortisol, insulin etc are in the blood stream.

Ok. I guess we'll just have to disagree on this. Best of luck in your work. Later.

@chadball1973 Hormone response is actue and location specific not to mention that the break down and repair and growth of a muscle is a 24-7 cycle.

@jimmysmithtraining No, I mean build wise. I was wondering why you looked so skinny, the height might explain it
