Jesus was for the poor....he was born in a manger, rode on a donkey, was a working man carpenter. He was not born in a palace, did not ride in a fancy chariot, and did not have a bunch of slaves at his beckon call.

Matthew 8:20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

I was watching 'Jesus Christ Superstar 1973 Hosanna' the other day and I then I thought that it seems that churches don't celebrate palm Sunday anymore. I remember getting a palm leaf as a kid. I don't see these days..

Pure Woody. He takes the melody from a ballad of Jesse James and puts it onto a story about the most worshiped man in the world. He's telling us that Jesus was an outlaw, as well. Woody's image of Jesus seems to be formed by an ideal vision of himself as opposed to a strictly Biblical Jesus. He reminds us of the bravery of his comrades and the treachery of friend, Judas. Woody claims Jesus was a man, not killed by each of us, as is claimed by the preachers, but by the preachers. Revolutionary.
