Ball' was never a copy of Bird. Where he played on the beat, his articulation, and his lines were totally different from the beginning. Sonny Stitt played different than Bird too but was always getting "Bird Copy" label. Its just that people dont have the ears to know better. Iv'e carefully transcribed all three so I know Why is it that in this culture EVERYONE is a damn critic and has to compare everyone ? There are NO alto players today who even come close to these three and Jackymac.

Yeh U Rite. Kenny Garrett and some others are phenomenal nowadays. I meant from this period of alto playing, 50s/60s. Of course even then there was Ernie Henry, Sonny Red, James Spaulding, Leo Wright, all great players. Now there are many young giants around.

Bird is great but to even compare them is ridiculous.I mean cannonball articulation alone is enough but if you consider his tamber and top tone voicing you really should think more carefully before making statements like your earlier one

キャノンボールのファンク路線への突入は
翌1959年から明確になりますが、
既にその兆しがソロの中に見え隠れしてますね。
トリオの時とは違う表情を見せるエバンスの
ハードバップ的なアプローチも新鮮です。

Cannonball " Adderly in his early times was a copy of Bird. He has got a stunnining technique, but Parker is another stuff. In the late times of hi career, he is much more original, so I very appreciate " Cannonball ". Thak you for the post. All other musicians are true stars.
