Midori Ito became the first and only female to land a triple axel at the Olympic Games. There is truly nobody like Midori Ito and there never will be!!

  • @arsoys this is the greatest comment to this routine that I have ever read. you have essentially summed up the emotional weight of this moment. Midori: eternal: forever. And they said she was weak "artistically". starting at 3:20 you can veritably sense her soul and fate joining hands. this routine could stop wars.

  • awsome

  • Thank you for sharing the song link to Amazon. I have been looking for this piece of music since 1992. OMG! Thank you so much. You just made me so incredibly happy. Yippee!!!!!! ☺

I have watched my video copy of the '92 Olympics over and over again. Midori's performance brings tears to my eyes...even to this day.

I was lucky enough to meet her back in the 90's. She was humble, shy and sweet.

    Memories! Thank you again.

  • BEST jumper in the history of women's skating. First to land a triple-triple, first to land a triple axel, first to land all 6 triples...WOW. She truly is one to remember and look up to for doing great things for this sport.

  • Flawed, desperate, and unspeakably thrilling. The breakneck pace just leads up to the second triple axel which is done so beautifully and so in perfect time with the music that the breath chokes off.

By the way, this may still be the most difficult technical program ever tried, especially once the speed is factored in.

  • Not the same without Scott Hamilton and Peggy Flemming commentating. Although Midori's Skating doesn't even need any sound at all..............Hamilton made it much more exciting with his enthusiasm!
