  • pete i was looking here on youtube if i find some videos about a really good reliable volkswagen rebuild engine! cant find a thing... i so this video and now i know that 2bbl progressive is the way to go! i want to build an engine that work a long long time! ( sorry im from venezuela... my english is kinda bad ) so i want to ask you.. how i can build a really god engine! im not looking for performance at all! but forged crankshaft, engle cam and some stuff is better than stock ones? someone ?

  • @neoholland The best overall engine you can build for performance and reliability is a 1776 with forged pistons, counterweighted crank, balanced rods, a 100 engle cam, with an 0.20 deck highth. If possible find an AS41 dual releif case and use 041 "NEW" heads. This engine will give you long life performance and reliability. Useing a progressive weber 2 barrell is all you need to make this thing go. Pete

  • Hey there - I have a 1969 Karmann Ghia with a Dual Port 1600...and am considerinng a Dual Weber IDF setup....Would I notice a significant difference in horsepower??

    This is my First VW of this age and type, so Trying to get the Best performance and reliability... Thanks for the info,

    BTW - I'd obviously take it to a Mech that knows what theyre doing before I think about buying..

  • @xtraflo In my opinion, the best performance you will get with a 1600 dual port is using the pic32 carb with an adaptor plate. Reliability is number 1 in my book. When on the highway your car will run great with the duals, but in town, it will have hisitation and dead spot problems throughout the use of them. You will be tinker toying with them constantly. Stick with what works, not what looks good in a fancy ad. Take it easy Pete

    i have a vw bug with 1835cc and a single 40mm empi weber. inside i have the big valve scat heads, w125 camshaft, stock crank, 92mm forged mahle pistons; but the problem is that i've been with the car since 2 years and i just cant carburate it right and fuck that pisses me off, so a mechanich told me that i had to rejet it but i need to know what jets are the right ones for this carb? thank you very much!

  • @Boyneedsgames Thx for the Reply....I actuall just traded my Karmann Ghia for a 75 Porsche 914, that also sports the VW Engine, a 2.0 dual Weber carb setup. Not amazing really - but a very fun car, and the engine sounds like it pumps out more Horsepower than it does, has a really nice Growl. But thx again for the info. The Karmann Ghia was going to end up costing way to much for Body Work...

  • @xtraflo If you wan't to do dual carbs, look into Kadrons or Dellortos. I myself have kadrons on a 73 super and it is a pretty big improvement over the stock carb. They are installed on a rebuilt 1600, and I love them.
