Supposedly yeah, but the voice types overlap enough for alternatives to be possible, I guess. Anyway - Randi Stene is listed as mezzo-soprano on the RKO website, which is where I checked the info :-). I guess it all depends on the range of the individual singer. Tuva Semmingsen will be singing Rosmira in Partenope this fall - that part is listed as being for a contralto as well.
