Video Info
My purpose behind this video was to help make people more aware of the actions of the Texan Board of Education. Our country was founded on the principle of separating church and state (as recognized by many of our founding fathers who were deists, the Treaty of Tripoli Art. XI, assertions made by the Supreme Court, and the first Amendment which states that the government shall not establish a National Religion).
The reasons behind separating government from ideology becomes clear when one examines governments which are run by ideology. God becomes the supreme ruler of the land, and those who do not subscribe to God, or wish to criticize what they feel to be injustices, are snubbed/stolen away/executed.
It's important to remember that not all Americans come from Christian backgrounds, and that by combining faith and politics, we are placing unfair burdens and beliefs upon those who do not subscribe to them.
Texas' push to bring faith back into the educational system comes at a steep price. Our very history, our very identity is being erased to fill a Christian perspective that should not exist in public institutions anyway. We cannot forget about our past, who we were, what we once thought and believed, to simply indoctrinate children against a perceived, omni-present, threat to Conservatism.
States should have the right to exercise their powers, and pry control away from the Federal Government, but not at the price of our national identity. I find resorting to racism, bigotry, and religious elitism hurts us, as a people.
Those who have faith should embrace it, without sacrificing common sense and human dignity.
