The real ecological nightmare is industrial agriculture. Switching to organic-style crop rotation will cut energy use on farms by a third or more: no more petroleum-based herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. Fertilizer needs can be served either by applying the byproducts left over from the alcohol manufacturing process directly to the soil, or by first running the byproducts through animals as feed.

Nothing wrong with natural gas, but you are wrong about ethanol taking food from people. do some research, where does the corn go after fermentation. you people really don't know anything about whiskey do you, that is what ethanol is.

Hungry ?? have less kids...ethanol from sugarcane can produce up to 3000 gallons per square acre with rain water only. Corn ethanol, 600 galoons and you need 3 gallons of water to make 1 of corn ethanol. Learn from Brazil. The bagasse of the sugarcane u can use it as fertilizer, food for animals and synthetic plastic. We can grow in Puerto Rico, Florida,Lousiana, Texas, Hawaii and all US.Island in the Caribean. Simple.
