Found a great park to practice flying. The kids were very excited to see the Hexa and had lots of un trying to chase it. Footage is straight from the GoPro, no stabilisation added.
If you don't like the sound, mute it. :-)

  • What the gimbal you are using with gopro? Very good stabilization.

  • @danielcena7 Hi. I'm not using a gimbal. The GoPro is attached direct to the landing gear using one of the supplied GoPro brackets. Cheers

  • This is brilliant. So you're not an RC stalwart? I'm not... The AR Drone has me obsessing over quadcopters and aerial photography. What's been the biggest learning curve for you?

  • @AzzaTwirre No, I'm certainly not a stalwart. I started flying last year in October with a Mini Quad. It's a small indoors only machine. It enabled me to get the hang of flying in a safe environment. The Hexa is actually easier to fly than the Mini Quad, but because it's a LOT more expensive, one's nerves tend to get frayed more easily. It can be very stressful if you get disorientated. Overall though, out of probably 100 flights, I only had one serious crash and it wasn't caused by pilot error.

  • Thanks for the comments friends. It's a lot of fun alright but also an intense experience for the learner pilot. Hope to get over to the park daily and rack up many hours of flying experience. We did have a small crash yesterday. The first one. The battery warning started beeping while hovering about 400mtrs away. By the time I flew it back to base the battery was on its last legs and it dropped about a meter to the ground. Only minor damage to the landing gear. Quickly fixed and carried on :-)

  • That's amazing. I have been considering getting an arducopter and learning the build from the ground up. Looking at the Aus aerobot.com.au a fully kitted out hexa is about ten grand? That's with FPV set up and all... Anyway, thanks.

  • Great fun was had by all. Fantastic machine you have there sir. I hope they were not getting in the way.

  • And no crashes!
