3D-Coat v3.2 has a whole new set of sculpting tools. These tools function in a polygonal form, and then when finished sculpting, transfer by way of baking details to the voxel sculpture. This allows for a much faster and much improved way of sculpting. This video covers the Sf.Freeze tool.

  • I don't have Sf, Freeze in the surface dropdown.....Was it taken out of 3.5?

  • @boswell255

No it's still there. Could be a couple of reasons. Did you install over a previous build that didn't have the sf.freeze tool? Have you tried to re-install 3.5?

Either way delete your options.xml file (It's located in your OS user profile folder). This should cure the problem. If not, remove the options.xml and re-install 3.5.

  • @javisjones Thanks, I did as you said (minus the re-install) and it doesn't appear to have worked. Still only 6 options in Surface (Drw, Pnch, Shft, Flat, SF Cly, Rapid )

I'll try a reinstall, although it's only the demo version, and I'm wary of uninstalling demo's incase it tinks I'm trying to bypass it, and depletes my trial.

I did have a few problems installing it, I first installed the wrong version for my system, and then the second install failed. 3rd time seemed ok.

    I'll ask Support.

    Hi!

No problem. I see. I know what is wrong. (BTW, I am part of the support team)

What you're seeing is only part of the surface tools. The rest of them are active only in the surface sculpting mode. In the voxtree, click on the cube looking icon next to the voxtree layer you wish to activate surface mode for. Then, you will have access to all of the surface mode tools.

  • @javisjones Ha, brilliant! Yeah that's pretty much solved it. Thanks!

Sorry for polluting you comments with silly things like this :P

P.S some sort of Voxel freeze would be reeeally useful ;-)

  • @boswell255

Haha, no worries. Not polluting. :) I'm glad that worked, and glad to be of service!

Yes you're right, I've wanted a voxel freeze tool forever. I'll put in another notch for the tool on our feature request system. :)

    Thank you!
