  • Neither, she's a woman who became a woman.

  • The mother talking about "feminine" and "masculine" behavior has nothing to do with gender. There are "masculine" girls and "feminine" boys, and all the wonderful things in between. Its not a recipe for or a code for someone who is trans or non-trans. I know many transwomen who still work on cars and machines after transitioning and transmen who cook and clean around the house. Is it nature or nurture? Or both? We can't attempt to solve these issues by assigning mas. or fem. "behaviors."

  • I just got a text message to my land line from someone asking me to watch this. I totally would to, as I am queer, but I don't know anyone who would send me that message. So here I am. I guess it's fate :p

  • It's so hard to get a copy of this movie; it's so expensive. Almost $30 for a new copy..

  • totally insane. bravo modernity.

  • @wjrojo Biologically, it was a man who became a woman.

  • It's a normal mother role to protect her child, and when/if she finds out he/she is different from other kids, the mother goes into super overdrive to find the answers to why and what she could have done differently. A lot of self blame occurs within her.

  • This mother had in a way just been told that her son (or idea of her son) had just died and in his place she was to accept this strange woman. Of course, she was trying to look back into their lives to find a "sign" that he had been struggling with this issue. She was searching to see if the "signs" were there, and if she failed him by not seeking help earlier.

  • I think we all understand that being feminine or masculine, has nothing to do with one's sexuality or sexual identity. I think, as a mother, that she was trying to justify by creating reasons why it happened. It's human nature to try to find a reason why, to get angry, to feel self blame, to try and "fix" it. We try to justify why things happen so that it's easier to accept.

  • yes

but that's gotta be confusing as hell to people who don't know much about trans isues :)
