http://www.nucleusinc.com/medical-animation This 3D medical animation shows minimally invasive gallbladder surgery, or cholecystectomy, using a laparoscope to remove gallstones. The animation begins by showing the normal anatomy of the liver and gallbladder. Over time, gallstones form within the gallbladder, blocking the cystic duct, and causing the gallbladder to become enlarged and inflamed. The procedure, sometimes called a "lap-chole", begins with the insertion of four trocar devices, which allow the physician to see inside the abdomen without making a large incision. Air is added to the abdominal cavity to make it easier to see the gall bladder. Next, we see a view through the laparascope, showing two surgical instruments grasping the gallbladder while a third severs the cystic duct. After the gallbladder is removed, the camera pans around to show that the cystic artery and vein, have already been clipped to prevent bleeding. ANCE00181

  • I had this surgery just over a week ago and am recovering fast with minimal bruising and pain. I was also lucky enough to get a really excellent surgeon (If you're in Portland Oregon, or nearby, Patrick M. Lehti, MD.) He is a really nice guy, who will answer all your questions before the surgery. I went home only a few hours after the surgery.

It took me a few days to feel like I could sit up without a little difficulty by myself; but after that bit of trouble, I feel good.

    Hope this helps :)

  • I had mine removed yesterday did not have stones gallbaldder was only functioning 14% normal between 35 and 75%. Had an excellent surgeon had operation at 8am out by 12pm.

I feel uncomfortable around my belly area otherwise pain minimal.Feeling a bit bloated and a bit of pain in my right shoulder from the gas but been eating and drinking normally. I did uriunate a lot yesterday though.Pictures taken from the camera in surgery were given to my husband.

  • @nucleusanimation Not a problem. Glad to help wherever I can. Here's a little additional info/advice. First, find a well-respected surgeon to do the surgery, mine was referred to me by the ER doctor who I had at the time (he'd had to have his taken out a few years prior by the same surgeon).

A good surgeon makes all the difference in how the surgery is performed, and how quickly one recovers, so choose wisely. I feel like I got very lucky, considering the circumstances.

    Hope this helps :)

  • Anxiety Symptoms come with it to...

you should really look at the gallstone cleanse. it sounds strange but was having pain.. like vomiting and sweating after I ate.. I did the cleanse and passed over 50 stones..

now i changed my diet and work out a lot more.. I feel great.. Two months and no more pain.

  • Omg I went to the ER and they did ultrasound and after an eternity they told me it was fine.....yet im having serious agonizing pain at this moment nausea, wanting to go to bathroom nothing comes out, cant take deep breath cause it hurt is that fkng normal :( this is horrible

  • I had this surgery about 9 yrs ago while 4 mts pregnant with my 3rd child. Worst surgery I've ever had. I was sent home just a few hours after surgery and given Tylenol with codeine for pain. I bruised heavily from the incision points so that my entire tummy was one large bruise. I couldnt get up or lay down or sit by myself for days. Ive had extreme diarrhea ever since the operation. 15 mins after eating Im running to the bathroom. I wonder sometimes if the pain of the stones wasnt easier.

  • I had surgery about 5 years ago. I still have to be careful with some food like to much cream and very high fat food. Other than that I don't get pains when I eat now. I feel free to eat near enough what I want to eat. After about 4-6months after surgery you should know then what you can eat and what you can't good luck to you all. Take it easy in the first 3 months. Take care. Good Luck

  • I just had this Surgery, but i'm thankful i was back for Christmas (:

i was also afraid but there was nothing to worry about, My tummy is still

inflated with that gas i was wondering if it would stay like that for a long time?
