Here is Part 2 - the final part, of a WFLD promotional film for (I assume) the sales department, meant to be shown to prospective advertisers on why WFLD was such a kick-arse station to buy time on.

The second part features company man Bill Jackson eliciting the help of his Cartoon Town denizens (such as Dirty Dragon and Weird) to explain the finer points of share, cumes, ratings, coverage, UHF penetration, and other reasons why you should advertise on "WFLD TV 32".

Update: Ron Kordick, former WFLD engineer, wrote in to ID some of the people in this video. He writes,"The stagehand holding the cue cards on the Cartoon Town set is Herman Andrews. He was Jamician and spoke with their typical accent. Like Bob Pairs he also left sometime in the mid '70s for parts unknown."

Voiceover by ??

Obviously this never aired, and was just shown privately, but it is definitely from circa 1970.

  • I loved this show and even held a carnival for Muscular Dystrophy back then. I don't remember the year but BJ and the gang were encouraging viewers to hold these "Carnivals for Muscular Dystrophy". He would read the names of those who held them along with the amounts raised during the show. What a amazing treat it was to hear BJ mention my name during the show. I only wish I could find some more clips of Cartoon Town, they seem pretty scarce.

  • Ahhhh, my favorite kid show. I ADORED Cartoon Town.....

  • @LMCMInterloper Hmm that was way after I had moved away (in 1982). Channel 28 was still ABC when I lived in South Bend.

  • This is maybe quite literally the most strangest thing I have ever seen.

  • @tmattrope B/C when WFLD got the FOX Broadcasting rights, they showed the channel here in South Bend as the local FOX station, which was the way it was until WSJV Channel 28 (Which was the local ABC station here for so many years) switched to FOX in the mid 1990s (Forget the exact year).

  • When I was a kid, I thought they put cigarettes in Dirty Dragon's nose to it to smoke like that..lol

  • This is an ODD way to get sponsors. I lived in the southwest corner of Michigan and we received Channel 32. Interesting he mentions South Bend (IN) being in the viewing area.

  • Blob FTW!

  • lol wat
