  • John, Hi I was wondering what castings you may need to finish your Falk. I have the original patterns that Fred from Power Models and Bill Harris put together for the live steam article. If you let me know I will try to get them cast, as I am building the engine myself. trainengineeerrick

Thanks for the follow up and for watching my videos. It’s good to know that casting may still be available. I used to live in Festus MO and would often visit with Fred at Power Model Supply.

It’s been years since I worked on the Falk but would like to get started back on it this winter. Off hand I know I need the cylinder castings and perhaps others. Do you keep them on hand or have a price sheet or web site?

    All the best,

    John

  • its a 0-4-0T right???

  • @disneylandfreak98

You are correct, the American designation is 0-4-0.

  • do u railroad at white creek?

  • @fordlukebo

Thanks for watching my video. At this time, I am not near a live steam railroad. A few years ago I was part of the Houston (TX) Area Live Steam group.

    All the best,

    John

  • When do they run the Falk during the year? As I live in Iowa I would like to get some additional information on the Bear, which lives there with the Falk, I think some of the castings would work for this engine as well. I am in the process of making drawings for the Bear and could use some photo's and actual dimensions. If you could take some pictures I could send you a copy of the drawings and you could check them for me. Rick

  • If anyone is interested in castings of the Falk parts I will be casting them in brass and in cast iron. I think this little engine could benefit from the extra weight. I know Bill Harris used Aluminum for some of the parts, cast iron may be better. As I build my engine I do plan on casting many of the parts by lost wax casting, this will result in there being more parts available and less work. I may also sell complete engines. I can be contacted at trainengineerrick@gmail.com

  • I live near the little Falk here in Eureka

  • thanks I'm planning to build one , got the book for Christmas !

  • @johnrob281 oh ok, but was it fun? im sure it was and i wanted to ride and own those trains and tracks too on large acres of lands.
