Hard to believe there is a congressman who's not in denial, but here's one whose trying. The people in this country have no education or memory of what this country has evolved (or devolved) from because of the intentional and perpetual efforts at non-education, but if they did they would recognize words like "reconstruction" or phrases like "States Rights" as powerfully racist Pro-Slavery terms that were at the foundation of the Civil War.

The easiest thing to do in a country that is denying its own racism is to deny your own racism. You'll get a boat load of sympathetic individuals who are as equally in denial as you are. If you're interested in facing this cornerstone of American reality, I've spent a great deal of time defining it.
