I knew him for many years! There will never be another musician like Rory. He was very humble!

@indiebaby08 I hope he inspires you as much as He inspires me and i'm 49! I shook his hand once outside the Birmingham odeon in 1991 on the Jinx tour. Johnny Marr of the Smiths is also a big fan but you wouldn't of guess now would you!, I guess we miss him so very much, I loved Him like a brother, one day I'll get to Cork and pay My respects.

@niallf331 Rory was a quiet and humble man off stage. Although adored by women he was not a 'ladies man' by any stretch of the imagination. He didnt like, want or need flashy promotion or staging. All his posed photographs are simple band shots, a embarassed smile can be seen on his face when asked to do silly shots. There is no way Rory would have chosen to do a Shoot with women, I can only assume he did it out of politeness.

@RickManchester why wouldnt he be?

Never seen the photo of the band draped in women!! Rory can't have been comfortable with this?

@indiebaby08 I saw him in 1976. He was great. Check out Peter Green as well. Another phenomenal blues guitarist.

@AceHermes yes, it was 1980 when Rory played in new zealand. I even had the tour poster "Top Priority". He also appeared on TV for an interview.
Remember, this was at the hight of the post-punk disco era (or error). The interviewer asked Rory what his plans were if he were to retire, he stated that he would peobably be a session musician. I remember that question!

@Guevaristas I did too but I can't remember what year it was, do you recall?

Is it just me, but it sounds like Donal is basically saying he was killed by prescription drugs???? Or at least his liver died because of it.....but if that's true why didn't Donal sue the doctors??
