  • I heard the Labor Tree is dying...I feel sorry for the tree - it is a victim of attachment.

  • @RickWarrenisjesus As I recall it during the election campaign Hawk said they would not float the dollar, no nuclear warships would enter Australia and no uranium yellow cake would be sent overseas.

So when Labour won that election they lied about what they would and would not do.

I don't think your name is Jesus.

  • Forward by John Howard???

    I think you mean Foreword.

Obviously another victim of Labor's 'education revolution'

  • remember it was hawke and keating who centrally fixed wages according to inflation. the most incredibly stupid economic policy in decades.

  • no floating of the dollar or super? lol both those things had already been done so its kind of pointless to except him to do something retrospectively.

middle class welfare? you mean giving a tax break to all the people whose wages primary make up the budget? it is not unreasonable to give people money back to spend when times are good. it gets spent far better and more effectively by people than the government ever could.

  • He had 2 good budgets where some hard work was done, in cutbacks needed and some restructure.

After that, it was all vote pandering middle class welfare hand outs and no real policy spine. There was no floating of the dollar, no brand new ideas like superannuation. Just a GST and a "oh, if we give too much of the tax gouging back it'll be inflationary, better stick it in a fund ".

As a politician, completely spineless & found wanting when the true nature of leadership was revealed.

  • what a load of shit. "extreme inflation" inflation was the lowest under the coalition's term in office than any other government

  • actually costello was going to ratify kyoto and apologise to the aborigines.

lazy lucky treasurer? he inherited an economy that was the joke of asia - we were called the white trash of asia by the prime minister of singapore. we were billions in debt, employment was far higher than it ever was during the crisis and we had a prime minister (keating) who was probably one of the most hated in australian history.

he lowered taxes for everyone including the poor

  • ....oh, and Swanny has survived again!
