Ocean Park, WA Tsunami Warning Siren (AHAB) TEST!September 15, 2010
This was the first time residents and visitors on the Long Beach Washington Peninsula heard the real Tsunami Sirens. In past tests, the sirens played Chimes. I thought the sirens would be louder since I was outside and no more than a mile from a siren.
People really need to have NOAA Weather Radios in their homes as the Tsunami Sirens are not meant to be heard indoors.
I used to live in Ocean Park. The closest tower was less than a quarter mile from my house. Pretty cool to hear the test go off.

Apparently WA has screwed up on yet another project because they installed these crappy sirens all over, including in Pierce Co for lahar warning, but nobody can hear them for one, and if you do hear them, they sound just like fire trucks or something of that nature. What a waste of taxpayer dollars.

See if it goes off today. Tsunami warning for the US west coast

Wow, that's kind of weak for a tsunami warning siren... less than a mile away? Sheesh, had it been a real emergency, I don't think anyone would have known and then a lot of people would have died.

Over here in the centeral canal area we got flyers for that test. There is too many things wrong with that. We are very unlikely to have one but we are more prone to horrible earthquakes.
